Chinese exports of polyester staple fibre (PSF) totaled 101.6 kilotons (KT) in August 2023, up a massive 16 percent over the same month of 2022 and also grew 4.2 percent over the previous month.
“As per data released by Chinese Customs, imports of PSF in August by China stood at 9,800 KT, surging year on year by 35.1 percent and 13.7 percent month on month,” media reports stated.
In the first eight months of the current year, overseas shipments of PSF reached 804.7 KT, growing substantially by 21.98 percent year on year and were the highest in the past five years.
Vietnam was the top Chinese PSF destination between January and August 2023, where they grew by 33.35 percent to 136,850 tons over the same period of the previous year.
For August 2023 alone, exports of PSF to Vietnam garnered the highest market share at 18.5 percent, followed by Pakistan and Indonesia.
