Denim lovers know that their beloved denim never lets them down. A good pair is a must-have staple in your capsule wardrobe. There are five fall denim trends, from a modern take on an old favorite of our past to the chicest way to wear it. Consumers opt for loose-fitting jeans with a three-inch cuff or more. And the beauty of this style is that it has the potential to lengthen users’ legs and can be DIY’ed with those baggy jeans one purchased last year.
Denim skirts started making a comeback in 2022. First seen on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell, the maxi-craze momentum grew over the last year as a brand after brands like Reformation, Mango, and Abercrombie & Fitch began to drop their take on the skirt. And when Miu Miu debuted the micro mini that nearly broke the internet, it was only a matter of time before the more abbreviated denim skirts broke free.
While there will always be room for a timeless and classic staple silhouette, there’s something to be said about loud, glamorous jeans. For example the beads, studs, knots, buttons, embroidery, and other embellishments that major fashion houses like Chanel, Alaïa, and Dolce & Gabbana have incorporated in recent denim designs. Spunky, fun, and full of personality, this fall denim trend recently seen on guests during Copenhagen Fashion Week is surprisingly easy to wear.
When Gen Z nixed skinny jeans over two years ago, some millennials feared their slim-fit faves would never be in style again. Fear not, though, because “…skinny-er denim is definitely on the rise,” predicts fashion stylist and creator of the STYLISTCHECK Elisabeth Kassab. Look for jeans that are “tight on the leg with a little straightness on the bottom. As Kassab puts it, some of us are moving on from the oversize, roomy fit and sticking to a tailored silhouette that can be styled over or tucked into a heeled boot with ease in its place.
It wasn’t that long ago when the Zara metallic pants went viral on TikTok, garnering 151 million views. Fall 2023 is all about that vintage-inspired washes and daring metallics, minus the Saturday Night Fever flairs of course. From silver and gold to olive green or dusty brown acid wash, all foil wash shades are welcome.
Experts think low-rise denim will retire this season. And it makes sense to lean towards a more covered-up style as temps begin to drop, particularly styles that don’t leave your midriff on display and cut you off in the middle of the hips, creating the illusion that your legs are shorter than they are.
