Cellulosic fibers are prone to fire and become a source of many fire accidents when used in upholstery, home furniture, and mattress covers.
Commonly, Fire Resistant (FR) coatings are applied for such cellulosic fabrics. These FR coatings are not human-friendly.
Another alternative solution is to use fiberglass for such purposes.
Fiberglass is not safe as well.
Precision textile has come up with an innovative product that solves FR-treated cellulosic fabrics and fiberglass issues.
The company has introduced a mattress cover with IQFit ® technology known for its glass-free and chemical-free nature. Conventional glass fibers or FR-treated mattresses have been problematic to some consumers. Therefore, they were designed in response to providing optimum protection and safety.
Keith Martin, vice president of Precision Textiles said, “As the concerns about fiberglass in FR barriers – which can expel tiny shards of glass throughout homes – continues, the development of IQFit Glass Free demonstrates our ongoing effort to deliver a safer sleep experience for consumers and to help our customers streamline the bedding manufacturing process.”
The newly launched mattress covers have FR cellulosic fiber that provides breathable protection at a high char strength. It has no chemical finish and a soft hand. In its sock format, the IQFit Glass Free conforms to the mattress like a glove. The product has been tested against:
• FR 1633 standard for the flammability of mattress sets
• California’s AB 2998 standard for FR chemicals
• California’s Proposition 65 for contamination by cancer-causing chemicals
The precision textile is well known for its coated fabrics, nonwovens, and laminations for the bedding industry. With ISO 9001:2015 certification, vertically integrated production in its 210,000 sq.
