Request to import cotton yarn from India rejected by the KPTMA chief

A while back, the value-added textile sector asked that it be taken under consideration the request to allow the import of cotton yarn from India. The plea was acknowledged however, the Chairman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textile Mills Association (KPTMA), Salim Saifullah Khan, has refused and rejected any cotton yarn import coming in the country from India. The reason being that it would be disastrous to the textile spinning industry of Pakistan.

Not only will bring in cotton yarn imports from India disrupt the balance in Pakistan’s spinning industry but it will also greatly benefit the spinning industry of India and make them strong economically. By importing Indian cotton, the cotton mills in Pakistan might shut down said the Chairman.

“The plea of the value-added textile sector is not correct that the quality yarn is not available in Pakistan as more than 90 percent of the yarn produced in Pakistan is available for the value-added sector”, says Saifullah Khan.

If we allow Indian yarn to be imported, we will be acting very inconsiderate and adding insult to the injuries of the Kashmiris. India has forcefully taken Kashmir and have taken all the innocent residents living there as hostages for over a year now. India has violated all the resolutions passed by the UN and other international organizations with no regard for Kashmiri’s or Pakistan so how can we trade with them said the KPTMA Chairman.
