The demand for Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) continues to grow

The international demand for Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) continues to grow as BRAX from Germany, Jolo Fashion Group from the Netherlands, Shinsegae International from South Korea, and other textile companies join the CmiA initiative. In doing so, they advocate sustainable cotton cultivation to protect the environment and improve the working and living conditions of around one million smallholders and their families.

Jolo Fashion Group designs and produces over 2.5 million pieces of children’s clothing a year. The company manufactures its fashion brands and also develops private label collections for large retailers. Additionally, it provides support services for other fashion brands, sharing over four decades of children’s fashion experience.

As one of the world’s most important initiatives for sustainably produced Cotton in Africa, Cotton made in Africa represents a foundation for the textile chain responsible for people and the environment. It gives small farmers who are at the beginning of the fashion industry a face. Around one million smallholders from ten countries in Sub-Saharan Africa already produce around 30% of African cotton production following the Cotton made in Africa standard. According to the latest study results, CmiA cotton has a significantly lower ecological footprint than the global average.
