TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India) has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) to boost tribal entrepreneurship.
The strategic partnerships aim to support tribal artisans and businesses by focusing on the development of handloom and handicraft products, as well as enhancing horticultural and forest product processing.
The collaboration with NIFT will help in product curation, design development, and branding for tribal handloom and handicraft products, allowing for greater market visibility and value addition.
Meanwhile, HPMC will play a vital role in improving the technology and processing of horticultural and forest products, which will strengthen the economic viability of tribal producers.
These MoUs were signed during the ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ event in New Delhi, marking an important milestone in TRIFED’s mission to transition from a business-to-consumer (B2C) to a business-to-business (B2B) model for tribal marketing. This transition aims to expand market access for tribal products, providing them with the tools and support needed for long-term sustainability and growth.
With these initiatives, TRIFED continues its commitment to empowering tribal communities, enhancing their livelihoods, and fostering sustainable economic development in India.
