Vietnamese fibre exports increase 11.3% in August 2023

In August 2023, Vietnam’s export of various fibres totaled 174,205 tons and amounted to US $427 million, a month-on-month increase of 12.1 percent in volume and an 11.3 percent rise in value over July 2023.

In the first eight months of the current year, overseas shipments of fibers reached 1.1 million tons, amounting to $2.8 billion, up 6.8 percent year on year in volume, but down 16.6 percent in value over the same period of 2022.

The average export price of fibers in the months between January and August reached $2,477 per ton, a drop of 28 percent as against the same months of the previous year.

China was the largest export market for Vietnamese fibers and in August 2023 they touched 95,494 tons with a value of $252 million, an increase of 66 percent in volume and also a rise of 56 percent in value compared to August 2022.

In the first eight months of 2023, shipments of fibers to China stood at 570,403 tons and earned $1.5 billion, up 15 percent in volume but down 6.25 percent in value as against the first eight months of 2022.
