Baukjen released its Impact Report Q2 2021

Founded in 2003, the House of Baukjen is a family-run business home to two clothing brands for women at different but meaningful times in their lives; Baukjen womenswear and Isabella Oliver maternity wear. A business with beliefs, values, and a purpose to do more for a sustainable future, we care deeply about our people, customers, and the planet.

The brand has released its impact report for the second quarter of 2021. According to the report, the brand has achieved essential goals in the second quarter and achieves further sustainability.
The highest include:
• Baukjen consumed 6% less water in Q2 vs Q1
• Reduced carbon emission by 22% vs. Q1
• Reduced synthetic fiber contents by 76%
• Used 100% plastic-free packaging
• 90% of the fibers that the company used were sourced from wood
• In offices, 100% renewable energy was used
• 10% of the profits are donated each year

With a significant reduction in synthetic fibers, the company aimed to reduce the microfibers pollution that has become a source of significant water pollution. The company follows a comprehensive restricted substance list (RSL), including Chromium VI for leather and chlorobenzenes for recycled polyester and polyamide to protect biodiversity, essential to all life on Earth.

The company collaborates with Canopy on their CanopyStyle and Pack4Good initiatives to ensure sourcing wood-based fibers and packaging from sustainably managed forests. Furthermore, the company has announced the Science-Based Targets, which includes:
• To reduce GHG emissions by 20% by 2025 in line with the 1.5°C agreement. SDG 13 – Climate Action
• To reduce water consumption by 20% by 2025. SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
• To reduce our net waste product by 30% by 2025. SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
• To use 20% less environmentally damaging chemicals in our supply chain by 2025. SDG 14 + 15 – Life Below Water + Life On Land
• To implement 50% renewable energy across own operations by 2025 and 100% by 2030. Additionally, we will incentivize the implementation of renewables in all high-impact manufacturing processes along the entire supply chain. SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
