ECC to approve textile package soon

Coming up with some good news  for the textile industry now, it has been announced by the  Federal Trade and Commerce Minister Pervaiz Malik that an upcoming meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will approve a textile package as the country’s largest industry is always the top priority of the government.

While speaking with the media at the start of the China Electrical and Mechanical Machinery Expo 2017 at the Lahore Expo Centre on 9th of September 2017, Malik insisted that the recent hike in gas prices would not cause harm to the industrial sector. “The gas tariff hike is minimal and it will not affect industries,” he said.

While speaking about the relationship of Pakistan with China in the economic context he said that China always cooperated with Pakistan in every sector. “Establishing a chain of enterprises is also part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and this expo is a step in this direction,” he added.

Meanwhile, the trade minister, in his welcome address, said, “I extend my felicitations to all Chinese brothers for making this expo an advantageous activity both for Pakistan and China.” While the Consul General of China, Long Ding Bin acknowledged the initiatives taken by the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and E-commerce Gateway Pakistan.

Reminded here is that since last many years the textile industry in Pakistan is facing a massive amount challenge in providing satisfactory services and competing with the regional competitors. To support the textile industry, the Gov. of Pakistan had made some promises that are still waiting for their fulfillment.
