Pakistani garments make headway in the Chinese market

The Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing,  Ghulam Qadir, has said the high quality of Pakistani men’s garments and their robust manufacturing capabilities have resulted in an increase of  36 percent in exports to China in the first two months of 2023.

Experts say that total exports of men’s garments may look small but it seems that a beginning has been made. Chinese companies are increasingly sourcing garments from Pakistan due to their quality and competitive prices.

In the first two months of 2023, Pakistan’s men’s wear exports to China reached $4.6 million from $3.21 million in January-February 2022. The surge in export was led by men’s or boys’ cotton trousers which increased from $1.27 million to $2.57 million during the period under review.

According to the official Chinese Pakistani exported men’s garment worth $28.286 million in 2022 which was 33 percent higher than the total exports of men’s wear worth $21.62.  Men’s or boys’ trousers of cotton worth $17.94 million remained the top items.

Experts attribute the rise in exports to the increased demand for Pakistani apparel from Chinese consumers. Pakistani garments offer many stylish options that appeal to Chinese CONSUMERS. Meanwhile, the exports of Pakistani T-shirts to China Jumped by 106 percent in the first two months of 2023 to $5.53 compared to the same period in 2022.
